Loretta Champion Johnson

Loretta founded A Solid Ground Foundation (ASGF) in January 2026, inspired in part by her own experience searching for grants and scholarship opportunities to help support her younger daughter’s college education. Through that experience, she recognized a significant gap in available resources: many scholarship programs primarily serve individuals from lower-income households, while fewer opportunities are available to middle-and upper-income families who may also face substantial financial challenges in funding higher education, professional development, and career advancement.

This experience became a catalyst for Loretta to create ASGF as an organization committed to expanding access to educational opportunities for students and adult learners across diverse economic backgrounds. The Foundation places particular emphasis on supporting minority students and learners who may encounter financial barriers to pursuing their educational and professional goals. Through scholarships and partnerships with donors and sponsors, ASGF seeks to help individuals build a stronger educational foundation and create opportunities for a brighter future.

Our mission is to expand access to education by providing income-based scholarships to students and adult learners across diverse economic backgrounds. We believe financial need can arise at any stage of life and should never stand in the way of educational opportunity, personal growth, or a brighter future.

A Solid Ground Foundation (ASGF) serves students and adult learners from diverse economic backgrounds who are pursuing educational, career, and professional development opportunities. We support individuals seeking to advance their education through colleges and universities, trade and vocational schools, professional and executive programs, and educational opportunities in the arts and sciences.

ASGF is committed to expanding opportunities for minority students and learners while recognizing that financial need can affect individuals and families across income levels. Our goal is to help remove financial barriers so that education remains within reach for those seeking to strengthen their skills, advance their careers, and build a more secure future.

Our mission is to expand access to education by providing income-based scholarships to students and adult learners from diverse economic backgrounds while building a community of donors and sponsors committed to investing in educational opportunity. Through financial support, strategic partnerships, and community engagement, we seek to reduce financial barriers, empower individuals to pursue their educational and career goals, and create lasting opportunities for personal and economic advancement.
